Coach’s Birthday Giveaway!

journal

Today is a day of remembrance for this nation. It's a day of story telling, moments of silence, dedication and of rebuilding. Like many of you, I remember 9/11/01 as clear as a bell and knew many whose lives were affected, and forever changed by the events that day. I wish peace and grace for those people and this nation today.

Today is also a day of celebration in my house. It is the day (MANY years before 2001) that my darling husband was born! I didn't know Coach on 9/11, but it is, indirectly, due to those events that we met and for that I am grateful. We both lost our jobs in layoffs resulting from our respective industries losing business after 9/11 and wound up working and volunteering at a local yoga studio. I remember the exact day in 2002 that we met and I actually still get the same feeling in my stomach sometimes when he walks in a room as I did that day.

In celebration and to add a lift to your day, I say we do a give-away!!

You can use this comment space in anyway you need today, in memory of someone, in celebration, to tell your story, or to just wish Coach Happy Birthday. I will pick 2 comments at random to receive a full collection of the Curly Girl Design Holiday Card Line (that's 21 boxes of cards)!!

Have a peaceful and beautiful day. Happy Birthday Coach!

xoxo

So grateful for the first responders who went in while everyone ran out that day. 9/11 will be one of those days that we will always remember. My thoughts are with the families who lost a loved one.

Thank you Curly Girl for the opportunity for us all to remember today with you.

I’m glad that in the middle of remembering a tragedy there is always a glimmer of hope, and for you, it’s Coach.  Happy birthday to him!

Celebrating those who lost their lives on 9/11 - and those of us who live on, and keep them in our memories.

Celebrating curly girl - whose designs make us smile(!) and really capture how we feel :)

And wishing the husband a very happy birthday!

Happy Birthday to Coach and all those who celebrate their birthdays today, a day to also remember and thank those who gave their lives today.

by Gail M. Ross on Sep 11, 2012 at 11:58 AM

I moved to Chicago from New York in 2000, and being far from my family and friends on September 11 was devastating. Every year, I mark the anniversary by re-reading the book “Love You, Mean It”, written by four candid, beautiful and inspiring women widowed on September 11. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

P.S. Happy birthday, Coach!

by Melissa on Sep 11, 2012 at 11:59 AM

9/11 is a sad day.  But it’s also a happy day for many.  Babies were born, people got married, and some celebrated birthdays and other happy occasions.  In tribute to those who died and suffered horrendous loss on 9/11/2001, I want to live my life in a way that makes the most of it. I want to make a positive difference every day I am blessed to be alive. I want to celebrate with those who are happy and take the time to grieve when those around me suffering a difficult event.  Happy Birthday, Coach. Thanks for making a difference in lives and loving Curly Girl!

Happily Happily (ever after) Birthday!

As I was driving this morning, seeing flags along my route at half mast, I took time to send healing energy out to the universe. We are all connected some way or another.

Happy Birthday Coach! I wish you many more. From one Curly Girl to another that is also named Leigh, great work. To all who have lost loved ones during 9/11 and the war on terror my heart goes to you. Today is a day for happiness, remembrance, inspiration and celebration!
Thanks,
Leigh

Happy Happy Day, to you both

by Tammy on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Happy Birthday Coach!
And Happy Birthday to my co-worker too!

Although it’s a sad day in history, we should all celebrate the lives of those we lost, and how they impacted our own lives.

Cheers!—for all.

by Ange Reese on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Today should be a day of rememberance, but also a celebration of life and the lives that were forever changed on this day 11 years ago.  Every American was changed that day, but we have moved forward, will never forget, but let’s look ahead!

by Lesley on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:02 PM

Not only did 9/11 bring the two of you together, but it brought all of us together - through Curly Girl and Marmalade, the world is a lovelier place. Thank you!

And happy birthday, Coach!

by Aimee on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:03 PM

Read a cool article today about all the rescue dogs that were present for 9/11. So along with remembering those we lost and all of the human first responders, I want to honor those dogs that responded as well. It’s a sad day but hope comes in all forms and from all beings.

by Carrie on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:03 PM

Keeping forever sacred the memory of those we have loved and lost. Thanks Curly Girl Leigh for making us smile with your designs!

by Emily Vance on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:03 PM

I was 19 and a sophomore in college on 9/11/01. I will never forget watching on live television as the second plane hit and the towers went down.

This morning, I took my 19-month-old son to the pediatrician for a routine checkup. Thankfully, all is well, and on the way there, he was chatting and laughing with. I didn’t imagine his existence that day, and it was a little surreal to listen to the radio and remember something that he will only hear about from our stories and history books.

by Meridith on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:03 PM

I think today is the perfect reminder to cherish and celebrate life and what you’ve got.  Happy Birthday Coach!  Hope this year and the years to come bring many blessings for the two of you.

by Lauren on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:03 PM

I didn’t know my husband in 2001 either when tragedy happened but I like you can remember the day we met and am thankful for the circumstances surrounding it. The butterflies are so special to have for one another. Happy Birthday to your hubby!

by Heather THomas on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:04 PM

Your cards are my absolute favorite. I go out of my way to give them!

Cheers! xo

by Jessica on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:04 PM

I think with every tragedy there is love and this just goes to prove that no matter how dark the day may seem if you can remember the light then it makes you that much stronger. As everyone I remember where I was 9/11, a nervous girl headed to one of my first college classes. I remember knowing I couldn’t run home. I had a clear “this is growing up” moment. 11 years later I have still yet to completely grow up but I think being able to see the light through a dark is more valuable anyways. Happy New Year to your love.

by Brianne on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:05 PM

Leigh - I adore your cards, your spirit and just placed an order yesterday! I have some of my favorite cards in my ‘card box’ that I open when I need to send a card or just to get some inspiration, and to realize all the good things I need to keep in mind and appreciate, everyday. There are many women in my life right now who could use a card you made, which is why I went through the site yesterday and chose certain ones for certain gals. I know they will inspire them and mean a lot, just as your words and designs continue to do for me. Happiest of birthdays to your love! Hope today is a day of remembrance and celebration, for all the good things we all have and keeping hope that things happen for a reason and we need to be stronger for it. All the best to you, always - honestly can’t say thank you enough for all the good vibes and good feelings your designs and words have brought to me over the years. Your cards are my absolute favorite. Thank you, Leigh. <3

9/11/01, I was in seventh grade, it was second hour, I had English Lit.  The look of horror on my teachers face when he left the room to see if he could reach his daughter is something i’ll never forget. I pray for continued peace to all those who lost their lives and loved ones on this day many years ago.

On a lighter note, happy happy birthday to your hubby, hope you get to enjoy many more together.

by Lauren Hudson on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:06 PM

Happy Birthday, Coach!

As I talked with my children about this sad anniversary, I realized how it marks the passage of time. My youngest, just a year old at the time of the 9/11 attacks, told me that only her 7th grade class and the 8th grade class above hers would have any recollection of that day. Most of the children at her school weren’t even born then. She hoped that her school’s tradition of honoring those lost that day continues . . . I completely agree with her.

This anniversary also brings to mind the more recent event of the Sikh Temple shooting in my hometown.  And I hope and pray that the people of this earth will one day embrace not only our diversity but also our oneness as humans.

by Leslie Flynn on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:06 PM

I have a friend who also has a birthday today; amidst the sad reflections of this day, it’s nice to remember that for all the bad, there is so much good out there…like birthdays!! Happy Birthday to Coach (and Christie!)

by Rachel on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:06 PM

Wow - that’s a great story!  Happy Birthday to Coach!

by Erin on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:09 PM

I was 15 on 9/11. I’ve almost lived half my life pre and post. The differences are remarkable. My sense of wonder and childlike ignorance fled that day. Replaced by a new-found understanding of evil and pain and ugliness. And the reality that even good (marriage, babies, birthday’s, laughter, etc.) can come from the ugly. For that I am thankful.

Happy Birthday, Coach!

by Whitney on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:10 PM

I was in 9th grade on September 11, 2001. I remember that morning perfectly, and remember watching the events as they were unfolding on TV. Every year I use those memories to remind myself why it’s so important to love one-another, and to be tolerant and open-minded. This morning, however, I wasn’t thinking about 9-11, but of my mom, who was headed to the doctor to get some very important news. She’s recently been diagnosed with lung caner, and today her surgeon told her what the plan of action will be. I know this is a day of mourning and remembrance for many, but for me, right now I’m feeling so happy that she got good news, and that the surgeon thinks she’s going to beat it. It’s become very obvious to me that we should take time every day, not just on the anniversary of something tragic, to hold our loved ones dear, and to be thankful that they’re still with us.

by Maureen on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:11 PM

On my way back to ATL yesterday, I had a stop at LGA, our plane flew right over Central Park, down by Lady Liberty and right past the World Trade Center site. It was such a blessing to unexpectedly see the result of our great nation in person from the air just a day before the anniversary!  Enjoy your day with Coach :)

by Lisa on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:14 PM

Such a sweet story! Happy birthday to him and thanks for sharing!

by Linda on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:15 PM

First off, Happy Birthday Coach! I hope you have a glorious day!!

My husband and I were just saying this morning that 9/11 was a defining moment in all of our lives. I had my 2nd store at that time and how great it was to have all of our customers supporting each other and helping all of us sort out our feelings and fears together.  What struck me the most was one of my customers who had fought in the Vietnam war. I really made me realize how much I love our country and am SO thankful for all of the veterans who have fought for our freedoms. Sadly, he had cancer from being exposed to Agent Orange and died shortly thereafter. I missed him and his smile so much. It made me appreciate him and his sacrifices even more.

by Kathy Honey on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:18 PM

Happy Birthday, Coach! What a sweet reminder that there is also good memories for many on this day.

by carolyn on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:19 PM

I’m grateful that I didn’t lose anyone.  I remember the very moment I stood and watched the second plane enter the building.

Permanently etched in my brain…

:)

by Jennifer on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:29 PM

Happy birthday, Coach! May you and your beautiful wife celebrate you in your favorite ways! Wishing you all the best on YOUR special day!

It’s a blessing to also celebrate something as joyous as a birthday on a day that is marked by loss. America is resilient and while we remember those who lost their lives in that day of tragedy– and in the battles to follow– we are thankful for the men and women in our armed forces, law enforcement and public safety, for their service, for their dedication, for their sacrifice.

by Shannon on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:35 PM

Happy Birthday Coach!!  It is so great to hear that because you both were indirectly affected by such a tragedy, you were able to follow your dreams and now inspire so many people with your love and wonderful art!

by Katie Wilkinson on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:39 PM

Anything Curly Girl makes giving gifts better! Love adding your cards, magnets and other goodies to any gift to celebrate the ones I love. Happy birthday to Coach! Bet you gave him a great card! ;)

Today I celebrate my parents’ anniversary. They were together for 60 years before my father passed in 2003. While this is a sad day for our nation, it’s still a special day for my mother who is still with us and healthy as can be.

Happy birthday to your husband!

by Laurie on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:42 PM

I am glad to hear that you are celebrating Coach today!
This is also the anniversary of the death of the mother of a dear friend. I am a funeral director and remember clearly completing my day and going to bed only to be called a few minutes later to learn that my friends mother had just died.  Today my friend posted this comment, “She didn’t pass till late that night I believe, due to the overflow of people entering heaven”  I am grateful for our heavely angels that continue to watch over us!

by Julie on Sep 11, 2012 at 12:45 PM

Happy birthday to your darling. My brother-in-law also celebrates his birthday today. Amidst sadness and grief, it’s always good to remember to celebrate life as well.

had a lovely chat with some co-workers today about LIFE. we’ve all been in tough spots, but we are all in this together and are here to support each other. and that is what today is all about. thankful to have people to simply share everyday life with.

by Laura on Sep 11, 2012 at 01:01 PM

It just breaks my heart any time I think of it.  People losing their lives for simply living the American dream and getting up and going to work that day.  I just can’t imagine the pain of finding out your loved one isn’t coming home from work because of such a heartless act.  Really makes me appreciate all that I have!!

by Amanda on Sep 11, 2012 at 01:03 PM

Happy Birthday to your hubby!  Thankful for all of the positive memories associated around 9/11 to keep our spirits up every year.  Thank you for the entry opportunity.

by Kerri Davis on Sep 11, 2012 at 01:10 PM

Amazing post and such an uplifting memory for a solemn day.  I remember 9/11/01 - I obviously remember it for the matter at hand, but I remember it because it was the catalyst of my brothers military career.  Shortly after 9/11, my wonderful brother received his first orders in the United States Navy (and has been on 3 since then -totally 4 deployments).  I will never forget the feelings that ran through me - the anger, anticipation, fear and the pride.  Pride that out of the tragedy that struck our nation on 9/11 - that brave men and women were going to be standing up and fighting for what we all much of the times take for granted.

On another note…happy birthday and enjoy a beautiful day!

by Heather on Sep 11, 2012 at 01:10 PM

happiest of birthdays to coach - may your day be filled with lots of love and laughs - despite the date.  and yes, it’s GREAT to have something to celebrate today because life DOES go on.

On a day such as this, it is so important to remember what has come before.  However, it’s good for the soul, after reflection, to then find something positive to celebrate.  So today, we celebrate my niece and nephew’s 2nd wedding anniversary and Coach’s birthday.  May our good moments help balance the not so good.

Warm greetings!  I too celebrate 9/11 as the birthday of loved ones - my oldest brother and sister (born 9/11 a year apart), so happy bday, Coach.  It’s such a delight that something so sad can lead to the conception of something as positive, enlightening and empowering as Curly Girl.  Happy and respectful thoughts to all on this day!

by Kim F on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:14 PM

It is amazing how we all remember that day but then stumble on so many great stories that bring people & places together in celebration, happiness and peace. It changed who I was - helped me look at life and love differently - and from within all of the sorrows - I can’t imagine who I would be without the experience of that day and the stories that followed.  Happy Birthday Coach! What a great day to celebrate life and love - on a day that is responsible in so many ways for the true happiness you have now found with your Curly Girl!

by Wendi C. on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:19 PM

My birthday is today, too! I will never forget that day in 2001.

Days like Sept. 11 give us a chance to remember those who have left us and those who remain an important part of our lives. Near or far, I plan to spend the day reflecting on the people who have impacted my life and made me the woman I am today. Happy birthday to Coach and spend the day loving the people around you!

by Betsy Anderson on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:33 PM

I remember 9/11 as a morning before school when the tv was on it the morning - something must be up! Being young (and in wee New Zealand) it was hard to swallow what happened but most of all i remember thinking that the American news people got the date wrong as it was the 10th in NZ already!

Happy Birthday Coach, if you ever feel like having your birthday a day early come for a holiday in NZ, lovely spring flowers are showing their colours :)

by Melissa on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:36 PM

I’m thankful that even though today brings back some terrible memories for our country, there are also tons of reasons to celebrate as well. Happy birthday to your man!

by KB on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:46 PM

Happy birthday Coach! Though we will always remember the tragedy that occured on 9/11/01, I think it is crucial that we continue to celebrate happiness and life, and what better time for that than a birthday?

by C.H. on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:55 PM

9/11 is such a sad day, filled with so many emotions. You are lucky you have this special birthday to celebrate each year so that this important day brings smiles to your family. I like to remember 9/11 on my own terms (and not filtered through the media) and then I try to do something that brings joy to someone else. Your post has brought joy to me today, thank you for the contest and happy birthday to Coach!

by Jill on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:56 PM

Happy birthday! :)

by Rose McKinney on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:56 PM

Today is a day to reflect and celebrate…reflect on what was lost on 9/11 and celebrate their memory. It is a chance to reaffirm the good things in our life and reaffirm our desire to live a life of dignity and honor. It is personally a chance for me to go to work and be surrounded by Soldiers who chose to raise their right hand and fight for our country. I will end my day reflecting and celebrating my husband, and how the events of 9/11 shaped the man I fell in love with. We will never forget and we will live our lives in honor of the friends/family lost that day.

by EGK on Sep 11, 2012 at 02:59 PM

Happy Birthday! I love this story of how you two met- it’s crazy how fate works out :).

by Caitlin on Sep 11, 2012 at 03:07 PM

well first off, Happy Birthday Coach! I remember being in 4th grade when 9/11 happened. My teachers made us put construction paper over the window and we had to hide under our desk from the fear that terrorist would bomb our Nuclear Plant. Of course I could not understand the whole magnitude of what I was watching, especially being some south Georgia. But our nation came together in a hope to rebuild what was lost, and today I’m proud to say I’m American.

by Ruth Williams on Sep 11, 2012 at 03:09 PM

And it honor of love- a really great love quote :)

“True Love is one of the rarest jewels life will ever bring you, treasure it with all your heart. When you find someone who loves you just as you are, is steadfast during moments of stress, willing to grow with you and allows you to feel however you choose to feel in any moment – there is nothing more you will ever find in a person. You’ve found True Love when you feel fear; fear of vulnerability, fear of abandonment and fear of letting go of your own stubborn egoic patterns that keep the real you separate and safe from the other. Trust in love and go towards your fear, taking this leap of faith in every moment is the journey Love requires for its sweet reward.”

I remember finding out the towers fell in my 6th grade social studies class.  I was 11 years old.  I sat in at the first table near the door and can still remember my exact seat.  My friend, Sean, told me “A plane crashed into the the Twin Towers”.  I told his not to lie, because I’d stood on the roof of one when I was smaller.  Then my teacher took him out of the room and I heard her whisper “stop telling people, not everyone knows and we don’t want anyone to worry”.  It was then I knew something was terribly wrong.

My heart hurts for all those affected by the attacks, and hopes for the fighting spirit of the American People.

Happy Birthday, Coach!

by Hilary Stegina on Sep 11, 2012 at 03:25 PM

I loved your story - it made me smile and cry.  Miracles do really happen, all around us each day.  We just need to remember to keep our eyes open to recognize them and our hearts open to enjoy them.  Thanks.  And thanks for the give-away too - awesome!

by Selenaintx on Sep 11, 2012 at 04:37 PM

Certainly a day to remember the events of 11 years ago and honor those that lost their lives or loved ones. For me also a day to remember 29 years ago when my oldest daughter was born. So, for me it is also a day of celebration and life.

My daughters and I have always loved your words and your work, very thoughtful and inspiring!

by Diana on Sep 11, 2012 at 04:39 PM

Happy birthday, Coach! I’m still waiting for that butterfly moment when my guy walks in the room, but I’m hoping it happens soon :]

by Christina on Sep 11, 2012 at 04:39 PM

Happy birthday Coach!! I am curious about this nickname or if it even is a nickname! Have a great day!

And remember: birthdays are good for you. Studies show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Celebrating those who were lost on 9/11 and appreciating those who are with us today.

And for Coach- wishing you a day filled with all of your favorite things!

Happy Birthday, Coach!
So happy for you two…

by Anne Cuddy on Sep 11, 2012 at 05:10 PM

That is a beautiful picture of the two of you! What a gorgeous background. Looks like a nice memory!

So cool that you met at a yoga studio too! I love my hubby, but am still only hoping that he’ll start doing yoga with me. :)

Hope you and Coach have a sweet and special birthday celebration!

If I won your Christmas card collection, I would HAVE to send you a picture of my face when I found out. It would be pure GLEE! Love, love your Christmas cards!

Happy Birthday, Coach! Wishing you many more downward dog years! Your post is an excellent reminder to celebrate life, while remembering those whose lives were lost and especially those who gave their lives for our country. May there be peace in our hearts and Curly Girl wisdom in our souls…

by Amy Trotter on Sep 11, 2012 at 05:50 PM

I am amazed at how many birthdays of friends I am celebrating today. How fitting is it to appreciate life while also remembering the loss of so many on this day eleven years ago. We have been placed in a beautiful and wonderful country, and days like this remind me of the love for America that ties our nation together.

by Sarah Jongetjes on Sep 11, 2012 at 05:52 PM

Being a curly haired gal myself, I love your whole line.  My husband was in the UK on 9/11, I was so worried for him to fly home, and so grateful when he came home safely.  Happy celebration day for both of you.

Gave the wrong email…combined work and home. That kind of day. Happy Birthday, Coach!

by Brandy Eve on Sep 11, 2012 at 06:46 PM

I remember I was in a classroom 11 years ago to today when a woman came into the room and whispered something in our professor’s ear. He was already a particularly pale man but when the woman finished whispering in his ear he was as white as snow. We all immediately knew something was wrong. While many professors refused to turn on TVs or let us out of class, our teacher ran down the hallway, wheeled in a small TV and let us watch as the sad news continued to unfold…

... But that dreaded day also inspired our country to renew our commitment to one indivisible bond. So today I celebrate those who gave their lives, those who are just arriving into this crazy world and everyone in between who continues to strive towards a peaceful, united nation. That means you too, Coach! Happy Birthday!

by Britt on Sep 11, 2012 at 07:01 PM

Coach, happy birthday!

The smiling kids (including the one who is the daughter of my friend Stacey, whose husband was lost that day while she was pregnant with her now 11 year old), new babies born (to a mutual college friend of me and Stacey, who lost a brother-in-law on one of the flights that hit Craig’s tower no less), and other birthday and anniversary celebrations posted on Facebook this morning made me remember that life DOES go on. And it reminds us that’s okay to go on…. since, in our heart we are always still thinking of those we’ve lost, even when we are going about life.  As Leigh’s beautiful card says, t’s impossible for your heart to forget someone once they have found a place in it. And that’s a *very good* and comforting thing to know.

Peace to all who are remembering today.

by Gretchen on Sep 11, 2012 at 07:09 PM

(I don’t need to win anything, if my random # comes up please pick again. Curly Girl has graced me with something in the past, I just thought this was a great idea and also was trying to see the greatness in the idea of life going on today so wanted to share.)  :-)  xox

My husband and I landed back home about 12 hours before. Wishing peace to everyone who lost someone on 9/11, or because of 9/11.
Try to live your life in honor of those who lost their’s.

Happy Birthday, Coach! Hope today has been great for you!

I remember being in weight training class of my senior year of high school and everyone stopping to watch the coverage on TV.

Remembering those that lost their lives and thankful for those that responded to assist that day!

As a native New Yorker, I had many friends in NYC on 9/11.  They were all so fortunate.  So many were not.  I am thankful for so much on this day-  my lovely daughter, my family, and my friends.

When I think of 9/11 what stands out in my mind is the way that the country came together.  I am so thankful for the first responders who risked their lives to help others.  It is a day to remember those who were affected and to be grateful for all that we have.

Today is a day to stop and reflect on the 9/11 events that forever changed our nation. Just saw on T.V. the remembrance in New York… two lights shining to represent the Twin Towers.
A touching and moving representation.

Thanks for this post… It is a good reminder to take what good and what love the world offers up to us and just celebrate the heck out of it. That’s the only way the other stuff is bearable.

Happy Birthday to Coach! Today, I’m thinking of those who lost their lives and their friends and families, and I am especially thinking of all of my friends who have spouses in the military or are themselves serving to protect our freedom.

Should we all be so loved and encouraged that from the overflow of our heart we create truly inspiring cards and the uplifting bling that makes everybodies life better! May you always love and be loved today and always!

911 to me is a day to be thankful for family, friends, pets, beautiful nature and my many blessings. A day to see the color in life and the beauty inside of everyone’s hearts. A day to stop, breathe and realize we are not guaranteed tomorrow so love the day you have today… And love the people you have to celebrate it with. A day to reflect that ‘it’s not about me’, but rather it’s a day for your neighbor in need. Many blessing to you Coach and Happy day to you!

Happy Birthday to your darling husband!  Today I thought about my daughter, Grace who turned 19 yesterday.  She is a college freshman and this is her first birthday away from home!  I miss her.  I also thought about my Dad today:)  He also has a September birthday..on the 25th, 2 days after mine.  He was also a coach.  I just started assisting at a Catholic School.  Today we watched a few clips from the movie, “Sister Act”.  All the singing parts:)  The children loved it and learned that singing is another form of prayer.  I thought of my Dad.  He loved that movie and I miss him!  We are all so blessed to be alive and have love in our lives and to have loved ones above watching over us! Peace, love and happiness to you and your husband:)

Happy Birthday Coach! you and Leigh look so happy, you have likely already found that you don’t really need a tiara or cape to save the world…only a bit of love and some patience to carve out a caring corner in your own sphere of influence…& step back as you watch it spread! xo

You share a birthday with my amazing sister!  For the last eleven years it has come with the heavy reminders of that horrible day.  We both love Curly Girl Design and I would love to send her a little belated birthday gift!  Happy Birthday, Coach!

Driving my boss to work this morning in NYC, she quietly said, “The weather was just like this on that day.”
I wasn’t in the city yet in 2001, but I’d like to send thoughts and prayers to all who were here… all who experienced.. all who lost… and all of us for a future of safety and peace.

by Andrea on Sep 12, 2012 at 12:09 PM

Without fully plugging into the anniversary I had decided to ‘play hookie’ from the office cubicle and stay home.  As I was planting in our new garden my husband reminded me that it was the anniversary of 9/11.  I thought…how appropriate to be planting…new life…on this date.

I work with 6th grade students that have little memory of that fateful day in 2001.  They have many questions the hardest of which to answer is “Why?”

So thankful that we are resiliant nation, moving forward with hope in our hearts.

Cheers to your celebration of love and life!

I’m a day late and a dollar short for the comp but I’m totally ok with that :-) I just wanted to wish your darling Coach a belated Happy Birthday.

We were on the last day of our honeymoon on 9/11. I’ll never forget the sorrow I had that day. We were in Antigua and all I wanted to do was get home to Ireland and see my folks. It was a night flight which made it all the more scary for me. I’m so glad that amidst such a terrible tragedy, you found ‘your person’.
