I am back in the studio getting work ready for January release and am totally loving how this turned out. Sympathy is so so hard to write. I try very hard to remain authentic to my voice and write in a way that is meaningful to me but in the case of loss it becomes about so much more.
I made this in honor of a good friend of mine who lost a very dear friend of hers. I hope I captured her feeling of deep loss coupled with the beautiful idea and memory of the person who brought so much light to her life. This card will be available in our shop in late January. I would love to know your thoughts!
LOVE THIS! May I suggest another for your consideration:
Please Lord teach us to laugh again.
But God don’t ever let us forget that we cried.
i agree. it is a beautiful sentiment. offering sympathy of the loss, but trying to remember the joy and love of before. thank you for sharing your gift of wisdom and compassion. happy friday.
perfection! having lost several people this year, i think this conveys an important part of the experience
Oh dear girl. This is really beautiful. I’m at the age now where I’m finding myself perusing the sympathy cards. I so love this one. I lost both my parents within months of each other – they were both a GREAT loss, and I’m a better person for having had them for parents! Have a great time world traveler! xoxo
Lovely!
I agree with what everyone else has said – this is beautiful! I lost my dad a few years back, and in the middle of all the other stuff, it always annoyed me that the only sympathy cards available for people to give (or for me to give to other people now going through similar losses) don’t really say anything at all. This card does. Thank you for sharing your creativity! 🙂
If I could buy a pair of these somewhere tomorrow I would, for two dear friends whose mom just passed away at a far too young age from cancer. It says what I would say to them, and I’ll definitely be ordering a few to have on hand when they come available in January.
love the new sentiment!! I lost my father last year and that’s exactly how I felt and feel today! Thank you for adding such a meaningful card to your fabulous collection!
This is card is beautiful. I am the worst with knowing what to say when trying to express sympathy and this card expresses it so well.
Really lovely, and well said.
Like everything you do, it is spot on! Love your work!
Thank you all and thanks for sharing your stories. This one is very near to my heart!Glad to know you like it too!
I lost my Dad this year and although I miss him terribly, each day I remember how lucky I am to have had such a great Dad for 47 years. This card reminds me of that!
Having written for the greeting card industry in the past I know the difficulty of sympathy cards and when I read this I sighed knowing it is a nearly perfect statement that will touch everyone. Thank you for sharing.
Leigh this card is beautiful and perfect! Thank you for writing this… the spirit of the loved one’s who have passed are listening always to the prayers of the ones that are still here.
The perfect message during a time when words can be such a gift. Grief is so all consuming and painful and this message (along with the design) could really lift one’s heart out of the dark (at least for a moment). It’s just perfect. It really is.
So eloquent, so beautiful!! Thanks Leigh, can’t wait to share this one!!
Thank you for putting into words what I have felt in my heart! I often buy blank cards intead of traditional sympathy cards. This is just what I have needed to express my feelings. For this and all your curly girl designs, again, I say…Thank you!
